Ok so story time: Over a month ago I made an order on NYX's Canadian website and was super excited to try some of their products. However, when I received my order, three of my items were broken! I contacted NYX through their website THREE times and never heard back. I even went as far as to message them through twitter to see what was going on. They replied and said they would fix the issue for me, but never followed through. Luckily for me, they opened a store in Square One Shopping Centre so I thought I would try my luck there. Unfortunately, they said their store's sales and the sales made online were on different systems and they could not help me. THANKS NYX......
After more than a month of this whole mess, I finally received an e-mail from NYX saying they would refund me for my items and to expect the refund in a couple of days. Well, now I just have to wait (& see if it even happens...). In the meantime, I've decided to try to bring my broken items back to life!
To fix my broken eyeshadows and blush, here's what I did:
STEP 1: I opened my broken eyeshadow (
NYX Prismatic Shadow - Bedroom Eyes) and got a clean cuticle pusher and broke up the shadow to make it into a fine powder (way more than what's pictured above).
STEP 2: I poured a tiny bit of
Rubbing Alcohol over the eyeshadow and tried to carefully mix it without going everywhere (by looking at the picture you would think otherwise..). It should turn into a paste consistency. I would recommend adding a little at a time so you don't have too much liquid, but don't worry if you add too much, it will just take longer to dry out.
STEP 3: When you're done mixing, spread out the mixture evenly across the container. After I did this, I got a tissue, placed it over the shadow, and firmly (but carefully) pressed down on it with the lid from my Rubbing Alcohol bottle (it fit perfectly!) to make it compact. The tissue will soak up some of the alcohol. I set it aside to dry overnight, and by morning they were good to use!
It's a little messy, but it's SO easy!
I ended up doing it to my blush as well (see pics below).

I used a cotton pad to press down on this blush after I had mixed everything together. When I removed it, I was left with this fun design!
