Are any of you guys members on
ChickAdvisor? It's a website where you can write reviews for products, read up on other product reviews, test products for free, etc. I've had an account with them for a while and I've been able to try so many things through them, as well as connect with many great people.
Last year I attended their
Spring 2014 Showcase event where we got to test products out and review them on their website. The event was so much fun, so when I saw they were holding another event in Toronto, I had to go! This time I brought along 3 of my friends :)
The
#ElevateLoungeTO event was held downtown Toronto on September
12 &
13 and it featured brands such as Nexxus, Simple, Dr. Scholl's, Gay Lea and more. I wasn't sure what to expect when I came to the event and I made sure to stick away from social media on Saturday so I wouldn't ruin the surprise.
When we first checked in, we were given a glass of Rickard's Radler: Grapefruit Pamplemousse. It was refreshing, but would have been better if it were ice cold and I was sitting on a patio... but it was just fine for the event ;)
There were tons of Excel gum for everyone to have in Peppermint & Sweet Mint. I had never tried Sweet Mint before, so I grabbed that one for myself.
The first room we went to was hosted by Dr Scholl's and their Electronic Foot File. Here's a photo I grabbed from ChickAdvisor's facebook of me getting a foot rub after having the foot file used on each foot. The file was really gentle and did remove all rough patches that were on my feet.
We were then taken to the Simple Skincare room and we were introduced to the brand and all the new items they had. Above is a photo of me
actually reading the bottle (I wasn't posing like I was when I was getting the foot rub haha). I've tried their makeup remover wipes before and really like them, so I was excited to see they even make eye makeup remover pads! I'll definitely have to keep my eye out for those!
We also got our hair styled to look like Blake Lively's beach waves. All Nexxus products were used on our hair. Their hairspray smells amazing by the way! I'm so glad we got to take one home with us :)
The last room was the "lounge".. full of snacks! There was Lipton tea available & a whole table stocked with candy (m&m's, skittles, mints, etc) to take home.
We were given samples of Gay Lea's Smooth Cottage Cheese (in salted caramel or vanilla bean). I'm not a huge fan of cottage cheese, so I passed on these. But my friends got them and said they were really good.
I did, however, get my hands on a Magnum Double Caramel Ice Cream Bar! It was really good. I don't usually eat a lot of ice cream or chocolate, but this product was really good. Definitely something I'd have again!
Before we left, we picked up a bottle of VOSS water and added lemons, limes, & mint to infuse it. The water itself wasn't anything new (or different tasting than any other brand), but it does come in a glass bottle which is perfect for reusing later. I think everyone was intrigued by the bottle.
Overall, the event was super fun! I wish we had more time to spend in each room, but I know there were tons of other girls coming to the event after us. I also didn't know what to expect coming into the event, otherwise I wouldn't brought my makeup to reapply after going to the Simple Skincare room, and I wouldn't have straightened my hair before coming.
I can't wait until the next event to share with you guys!
